The Archaeology News Network: More on New World's oldest statues found in Peru

The Archaeology News Network: More on New World's oldest statues found in Peru

Note: in the article Benfer finds Animal Shaped Mounds similar to those found in Ohio, Wisconsin, & elsewhere in the North Central USA. Could the Hopewell / Moundbuilders have had trade or colonies of people in Peru anciently? Interesting thought, hope to see more on these finds later.

"The animal effigies that Benfer plans to map in August are similar to ones found in Ohio, Wisconsin and elsewhere in the north central United States. He said he found three pairs of mounds, each more than 200 yards in length and formed in the shapes of animals. "
